Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have choices concerning personal information associated with you. This page explains common privacy requests and how to contact Services.Contractors about them.
Not every privacy right applies in every situation.
U.S. privacy laws vary by state and can apply differently depending on the business, the person making the request, the type of information involved, and how that information is used.
When a privacy right applies to Services.Contractors, we aim to handle a valid request in accordance with the applicable requirements.
Some information may also be subject to exceptions that allow or require continued retention or use.
Depending on applicable law, your choices may include the following.

Access or Know
You may have the right to request information about personal information collected, used, disclosed, or otherwise processed about you.
Correction
You may have the right to ask us to correct inaccurate personal information associated with you.
Deletion
You may have the right to request deletion of certain personal information, subject to applicable exceptions.
Opt Out
Some laws provide rights to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or specified profiling activities.
Limit Certain Uses
Some jurisdictions provide additional choices concerning particular categories or uses of personal information.
Non-Discrimination
Applicable privacy laws may prohibit unlawful discrimination because you exercised a protected privacy right.
You may be able to ask what personal information we have about you.
When applicable, an access request may relate to information associated with a homeowner request, contractor application, communication, business relationship, or other interaction.
You may ask us to review inaccurate personal information.
If information associated with you is inaccurate, tell us which information you believe should be corrected and what the accurate information should be.
Supporting information can be useful when the requested correction concerns a business identity, contractor record, project record, or another fact that cannot reasonably be confirmed from the request alone.
A deletion request does not always require every record to disappear.
When applicable, you may request deletion of certain personal information associated with you.
Privacy laws can also permit or require some information to be retained for particular purposes. The result therefore depends on the information and the reason it is being kept.
Some privacy laws provide opt-out rights for particular uses of personal information.
Depending on applicable law and our information practices, those rights may concern activities such as sale, sharing for certain advertising purposes, targeted advertising, or specified profiling.
Some state laws define certain transfers of personal information as a sale and give eligible consumers a right to opt out.
Some laws provide an opt-out right concerning sharing or processing associated with cross-context or targeted advertising.
Some jurisdictions provide opt-out rights for particular forms of profiling that produce legally or similarly significant effects.
A privacy opt-out does not necessarily prevent information from being used or disclosed when you specifically request a service that requires that information. For example, asking Services.Contractors to help connect you with a contractor may require project and contact information to be used for that requested introduction.
Some privacy laws recognize browser-based opt-out signals.
Certain jurisdictions require covered businesses to recognize qualifying universal opt-out preference signals for particular privacy choices.
Global Privacy Control, often called GPC, is one example of a browser-based signal recognized in several state privacy frameworks.
Whether a signal creates a legal obligation for a particular interaction depends on the applicable law and the processing involved.
Privacy choices do not change the basic purpose of a contractor request.
If you ask Services.Contractors to help with a project, information you voluntarily provide may be needed to understand the request and facilitate a contractor introduction.
You provide project and contact information in order to seek information or contractor assistance.
Relevant details may be used to understand the project and identify potentially suitable service providers.
Project and contact information may be shared when needed to facilitate the contractor conversation you requested.
Privacy rights and communication preferences can overlap, but they are not identical.
You may be able to ask a sender to stop certain communications without requesting deletion of every record associated with you.
Similarly, a privacy deletion request does not necessarily determine every communication obligation or recordkeeping requirement.

Some privacy requests require reasonable verification before personal information can be disclosed, changed, or deleted.
The information needed for verification should depend on the request and the information involved.
Some laws allow an authorized person to make a request for someone else.
Where applicable, we may request information reasonably necessary to confirm the person’s authority and protect the consumer whose information is involved.
A privacy request can be limited by applicable exceptions.
A request may sometimes be denied or only partially completed because the requested right does not apply, an exception permits retention or processing, the request cannot reasonably be verified, or another legal obligation applies.
Where applicable law requires an explanation, appeal process, or other response, those requirements should be followed.
