A homeowner often starts with incomplete information. A tool can organize what is known, apply transparent calculations or decision logic, expose important unknowns, and suggest a useful next step.

Not every input has the same level of certainty.

A strong tool should distinguish information supplied by the homeowner, property information obtained from an external source, calculated values, and assumptions created by the model.

Detected information and homeowner corrections should remain distinguishable.

If a tool detects a roof area, pitch, building scale, or another property characteristic, that value should not silently become “fact” when the homeowner has better information.

When a homeowner changes a detected value, the experience should preserve both the original detected state and the homeowner-selected or manually entered value where that distinction matters.

Both states can remain available for reporting, debugging, attribution, and contractor verification.

CONFIDENCE & UNCERTAINTY

Different parts of a result can have different confidence.

MEASUREMENT How confident are we in the physical input?

Example: roof dimensions based on usable imagery may have stronger measurement confidence than a rough homeowner guess.

FORECAST How confident are we in the planning outcome?

Even with strong measurements, final project cost can still vary because labor, hidden damage, permitting, scope, and contractor pricing remain unknown.

Measurement confidence and cost-forecast confidence are not the same thing.
